Hi Daffnetters ,
A quiet time as the southern season is slowerly starting and the north
has finally concluded ..
All the major N Z flower markets are now listing narcissus ,
paperwhites , Sol D,Or , Erlicheer and the first true daffs ..
Most areas are reporting a very mild May , the warmest ever in many
weather stations ..Rainfall in this area was also above average ,– add to the
soil all the irrigation on my early flowers ; the result is a very early season .
I have started my market season about 12 days earlier than last season .
The warm May must have confused this fine tazetta , Avalex , bred by Wilf Hall .
From the same plant , I had 2 stem of Avalex at our North Island National
Show last season , 2010 ..
Even in the fridge , I don,t think these will last — about 10 weeks to early Sept ..
Avalex is a very fine tazetta ; very clean colours , round flowers openning flat .
well held on strong stems with good numbers per stem .
Wilf had premier with it at the Nat , his pot created a lot of comment .
Unfortunately , don,t think it will be in my collection this season ..
Cheers John ..
