Hi Daffnetters,
We are over our snow episode , about 3 days was enough .
Our N Z Daffodil day , a nationwide Cancer Society is a week away,
on Friday 26 August ..
The snow has lowered soil temperatures and growth is very slow , — flowers are
expected to be in short supply for Daffodil Day unless we quickly get a warm Norwest
weather pattern and the frosts stay away .
I always keep my old mum supplied with potted daffs for over 3 months of “spring “.
Surviving the storms was this great yellow trumpet from Max Hamilton .
1 Y – Y Raetihi great tall straight stems , big ,golden flowers ,well held .
Raetihi is a very small town on the central plateau in the middle of the North Island.
Mainly a farm service center , but busy in the winter as it is close to the big ski fields ..
Raetihi set a rather sad weather record on Tuesday this week, in the middle of our snow event ..
It had the lowest maximum daytime high — a cold 5.2 degree F , ever recorded in the North Island .
Raetihi , a bold , gold trumpet , — a cold cold town .
Cheers John..
