Snipe x cyclamineus

Years ago Alf Chappell had a wonderful set of seedlings of Mitzy x cyclamineus. All were short dumpy flowers but a mixture of yellow, all white and bicolours. Others have used this cross with similar success.

P1010069This flower is Snipe x cyclamineus. I must have used a narrower form of the species. The photo does not show the true slenderness of this flower. The perianth is 22mm, the corona 22mm and the coronal width only 3mm. It may be described as a fully reflexed Snipe but almost too big to be a miniature. There will be nine more flowers to open from the cross.

The secret will be to keep them and to have the bulb multiply.
