Late late show

Hi Daffnetters,
Just a few from our very late, late show, held Saturday 15 October, the latest date I have ever been to a daff show.

A dozen growers and partners were at Woodville for this season ending social
affair, discussion on flowers and judging was as important as the results..
We restrict growers to 12 vases per person, 15 per couple, 3,s or singles.
No moss in staging, — paper towels are easy and soft and no mess after.
Amateur and open grades, about 60 vases and 100 flowers staged, as many again in buckets to look at and discuss.

An enjoyable afternoon, well run by our Chairman John Hollever with very able assistance from Wilf Hall on the judging discussions.

Champion Bloom 2 W – P Cape Point John Hollever

A big flower, very clean colours; time restrictions meant it was not heavily dressed or groomed but Cape Point is an easy customer usually. About 6 blooms at show and I picked a dozen more from Johns patch today.  Over coffee we discussed what we all liked about C. P..  All said it was a pleasing true soft pink, flat petals with little edge roll, good size naturally and seldom caught or nicked.Very popular in our area but just a little late.

Cheers John.
