Friends, it is with much sadness that I report that Emily Force, wife of ADS
member, Larry Force, died on MAR 15.
I’m sure ADS members will want to send messages of sympathy to Larry.
The obituary follows:
DORIS EMILY HAWORTH FORCE
Southaven – DORIS EMILY HAWORTH FORCE, 67, of Southaven, MS passed away
Thursday, March 15 at Baptist DeSoto Hospital. Emily is survived by her
husband of 45 years, Larry H. Force, Sr., along with her children Larry H.
Force, Jr. (wife Michelle), Ellen Force and Floyd Force (wife Tonya); 6
grandchildren; her mother, Edna Gertrude Haworth; sisters Barbara Graham,
and Sherri Haworth Joyce; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. She
was predeceased by her father Keith J. Haworth, and two sisters Carolyn Ann
and Ruby Haworth. Emily spend her childhood in Malden, Missouri until she
moved to Memphis in 1962 and later DeSoto County. She and Larry cared for
numerous foster children from St. Peter’s Home and in recent years, she
served as Coordinator for EF International, placing hundreds of students
from many countries with host families in the DeSoto County area. She was a
Spotlight teacher at Southaven Middle School until she retired in 2009.
Emily loved to travel, making frequent trips around the world to visit the
families of her international students and to lead tour groups. Her greatest
joys were her children and grandchildren, old movies, friends, the
celebration of Christmas, and her favorite Robert Frost poem, the Star
Splitter. Brantley Phillips Funeral Home in Hernando is in charge of
arrangements. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 16,
2012 at the funeral home. Friends and family will gather to celebrate
Emily’s life at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at St. Timothy’s
Episcopal Church, 8245 Getwell Road in Southaven. Interment will follow at
DeSoto Memorial Gardens. Brantley-Phillips Funeral Home Hernando
