Hamamelis – Two Favorites in flower

Two favorite Hamamelis x intermedia (Witch Hazel) are in flower. They always flower just as the earliest daffodils are beginning to bloom outside. I feel that both pictured have tremendous garden value.

The first photo is of H. ‘Sunburst’ which I obtained twenty years ago from our friends at Gossler Farms Nursery. It is hugely floriferous and has a nice, light fragrance. Now grown to twenty foot. A real favorite here.

The second photo is of H. ‘Jelena’ which is planted on the North side of Greenhouse #3. Love the flowers when branches are cut and brought indoors. Has a clean, spicy fragrance.
