Prolific Lima Seedling

This photo is of part of a patch of Manuel Lima’s seedlings – easily the most prolific of his seedlings I inherited. It’s actually from a group of seedlings from the same unknown cross. I call it “Lima ordinaire”. It’s representative of a result Manuel obtained (and discarded) in many crosses. He didn’t have the funds to buy outstanding cultivars for parents – so some of his crosses resulted in rather inferior looking blooms. He was stubbornly persistent however. With the generosity of several commercial growers who sent him cultivars to use as seed parents, he created many lovely seedlings.  Since Manuel knew what was in each pot of seedlings, he never labeled any. These have been blooming for over a month.
