This is the first flower of quite a large batch of three year old seedlings bred from Julia Jane x Smarple.
The flower is approx 35mm wide and about 70mm tall. It is sparkling white with very strong texture. There are about another 15 bulbs to flower in this tray so it will be interesting to see the results.
Winter has really arrived in New Zealand this week with snow over large parts of the country. Even here in Cambridge we have had some very severe frosts, some of the pots of minis have been frozen all day. At least the hard ground has stopped the rabbits from burrowing in the patch. As other New Zealand growers have said it looks like it might be a late season, I have very few varieties through the ground at the moment.
