Naturalized Daffodils or Not

I learned a hard lesson this morning.  I had planted a sizable naturalized daffodils bed in my front area near a large oak tree that was 4 feet from the street in front of my house. No curb.

At 7:00am I heard a loud crunch in front of the house.  Sure enough a lady had ran her car against the tree where I had planted the naturalized daffodils. It seems that it was a young woman that tried to dodge a young man that run the stop sign on his road and she lost control of her car on the slick street because of the rain we are having this morning.

The daffodils mostly were showing 3 to 4 inches of foliage.  Were is the active word here as both the lady and the lad that caused the accident were both local, suddenly we had a crowd of those involved in the accident, the police, neighbors, parents and on-lookers all gathered on top of my naturalized daffodil bed.  It’s like they didn’t have anywhere else to stand except on my daffodils.  Goodbye RES, goodbye ‘Ice Follies’, good by ‘Tete-e-Tete’, etc. Lesson learned.
