A quick review of the Minnesota show

The Daffodil Society of Minnesota held their annual show this past weekend, May 14-15.  We are the last show in the country of this year’s spring daffodil season.

It was so wonderful to be able to be back together again after not being able to hold shows in 2020 and 2021.  Bachman’s garden center, the wonderful venue where we hold our show, told us we were the first live show back this year.  Several other plant societies have shows planned there as the year progresses.

We had interesting weather the week before the show. It started off cool, then got hot and humid.  On Wednesday night, parts of the area had heavy rains, strong winds, some hail and even tornadoes!  Some members had significant hail damage on some of their blooms.  Just another springtime week in Minnesota.

We had 13 exhibitors, 313 entries and 670 stems.  And, we even signed up seven new members for DSM.

We’ll post some additional pictures later, but here’s our Best in Show – it is Sugar Rose, a 6W-GWP entered by Michael Berrigan.
