Unfortunately, several of us in Minnesota have daffodil bulb flies. I’ve been killing them for several days, and killed 22 today. I realized that the remains were disappearing from where I had dumped them on the driveway (after squashing the live fly in the butterfly net). I realized that ants were carrying them off to their nest! I found the nest in a rock wall along side the garden, and had morbid enjoyment watching the dead flies being carried off. I couldn’t resist recording one in video. So, for your morbid enjoyment today….
Bulb flies are just about everywhere. I can’t seem to erraticate them, but
have thinned them out to just a couple a year sighted by using Bio Advanced
(used to be Bayer) Complete All Insect killer. Can’t buy it in all states
as it’s a strong bug & grub killer.
