The season is winding down here ,not a lot to flowers and still about 10 to 12 days ahead of normal.
Hawera , a smll south Taranaki town was host to a very good one day show on Saturday .
Hawera Horticultural Society have Spud Brogden as Presedent and Joy as Secretary- treasurer ; you know
they will organise a good show ..
Open grade judge was Andrew Jenkins and Wilfred Hall sorted the other sections .
About 400 stems in total ; a few of the guns were holding their best for next weekends South Island National,
the standard reflected the season ; a lot of good flowers but the really exceptional were hard to find …

Probably coded 2 W – W P R , — a semi flat cup flower with good colouring from Eclat .
It was Colins recommendation many years back when I was requesting well coloured flat cup style
flowers with very strong stems and necks to take a double . A good choice thanks Colin .
People,s Princess, which I have unfortunately lost , was a very good quality exhibition level double and
for a couple of seasons ,I found a few stamens and made a couple of big crosses from Valley Storm
and Valley Dream , a similar flower .About 15 selections , most with very good red-pink tones , have been made …
