Hello Brian,
Here too most plants are going to sleep in the garden.
But my Dahlia imperialis is at its best.
Kind regards
Henry (in Rome)

Hello Henry,
Thanks for that picture. It’s amazing how a plant hitherto unknown appears twice within a few days or weeks. John Massey, of Ashwood Nurseries fame, was a special speaker at our Omagh Gardening Society and our guest at the end of November. He told us about having gone to see this plant just a few days earlier at a friends stately home – and the plant was flowering freely against the wall up to about 5m. tall. I think the garden was in SW England, near Bristol or Gloucester. I think John was so excited because it may have been the first time this Dahlia was known to have flowered in England – the owner had asked John to come, see and photograph. (Check out http://www.ashwoodnurseries.com for some special plants ).
