I spoke with Helen yesterday and though she can’t be reached at home, I have contact info for her. If anyone wants it, just drop me an email. I hesitate to put too much ‘info’ out there, iykwim. Helen and I usually talk about once a week, and I have phone numbers of family that ‘usually’ know of her whereabouts. She lives on the other side of the county from me…about 1/2 hour away.
Helen is usually in touch with Joe Hamm too, on a very regular basis, so that is another avenue of hunting her down. As usual, she is a very busy woman, with a lot of irons in the fire. She went to a garden function out of town yesterday.
I’ll let her know that you folks were concerned and asking about her. Yes, Henryville is about 8 miles from her and the storm really wrecked havoc there.
Sue…also in Sunny Southern Indiana
After doing some map research, I knew Helen’s residence was very close to some of the tornado ravaged communities in IN. I am so glad to hear she was just out “gallivanting” (not sure if that is a real word, or one my Grandfather dreamed up). Please tell the “Silver Fox” that we may need to put a locator beacon around her ankle. and how much we look forward to seeing her in Baltimore. And thank you, Sue, for bringing her. I get the most wonderful letters from Helen, written in the most beautiful “long hand” cursive you have ever seen. She is a sweetheart and a treasure.

So glad to hear that all of you folks are okay – and yes, Jaydee –
gallivanting has been a real word for my family for many generations!
Ethel Smith
Thanks so much for the info Sue; Helen is one special lady; or “dirty old lady” as I call her. Private joke.
Phyllis Hess
Mine too Ethel.
