TDS Chambersburg, PA

Chambersburg Show 2018.  This is my 6th and last show of the year 2018.

The Tuscarora Daffodil Society had it’s 82nd consecutive Daffodil Show on Sat and Sun April 21 and 22 at the First Lutheran Church in Chambersburg, PA under the co-chairmanship of Mitch Carney and Richard Ezell.  There were 887 stems of beautiful daffodils.  I was pleased to see three of the judges there that I have known around the daffodil world since I got started in Daffodil.  Ann Donnell Smith my first daffodil teacher. Kathy Anderson that I clerked for the first time I went to a daffodil show and put in Exhibits and Martha Best who has always been a main-stay with the Baltimore and WDS programs.

Judging was conducted on Saturday April 21 while the weather was sun shining we started the day under a threat of freezing according to the local weathermen.  Will spring ever come this year.

  1. Thanks Clay. We appreciate the six shows that you have covered.

  2. My apologies to Richard Ezell for misspelling his last name.
After putting in Exhibits, judging, and driving 400 miles to get home last night, I’m lucky to be able to spell my own name.

  4. Hi Clay,

I’m just amazed that anyone would drive 400 miles each way to show daffodils! But then I realise that I fly 500 miles, hire a car and drive 40 miles each way, stay in a hotel – all to show a few little daffodils! Are new all daft?

  5. Yes we are a LITTLE daft Brian, We ( Rozanne and myself) think nothing of driving to Te Anau for a show (607 Kms). Can’t help being daff crazy sometimes

  6. Brian and Malcolm,

Okay, just 387 miles one way – I rounded up.  We are a little daff to do this.  However, the People in Chambersburg, PA are really good people and Fran and I have enjoyed them and their show for over 20 years.  The were a lot closer when we were in Maryland.

And, the six show are not so bad except the one week where we go to three show.  That wears us out and leaves us exhausted and ready for a vacation. :-)

    Clay
