Overseas Visitors at Saint Louis; Special Honors Awarded There

Looking at the Registrations for the 2016 World Daffodil Convention in St. Louis, there were 229 attendees. Of those, 43 came from 7 ‘overseas’ countries: New Zealand 20; England 9; Australia 7; Scotland 3; Chile 2; Northern Ireland 1; The Netherlands 1. Making and renewing our friendships with overseas daffodil enthusiasts made the Convention special. I thank each of them for coming!

The ADS Gold Medal for extended service to daffodils was awarded to Spud Brogden of New Zealand.  The ADS Silver Medal for extended service to the ADS was awarded to Nancy Tackett and Ben Blake. (This completes the ADS Honors for them, since Nancy and Ben previously had received the ADS Gold Medal!) Congratulations!

  1. It does not complete the honors for Ben and Nancy because there is now a President’s Medal.

  2. Jason Delaney tells me there were more than 229 attendees at St Louis. There were three from the Netherlands. Two registered after the list was printed.

  3. It WAS wonderful to meet them. It was a fabulous show and I’m proud to have been involved. I would love to see them again in their own countries but unfortunately it’s not likely to happen. If any of you are coming back to next year’s convention I can’t wait to see you.
