  1. John Beck says:

Mmm perhjaps an Egyptian mathematician or perhaps a Greek ruler of Egypt?

  2. John Beck says:

Ptolemy Claudius Ptolemaeus ( Greek : Κλαύδιος Πτολεμαῖος ; after 83 – 161 CE), known in English as Ptolemy , was a Greek mathematician , geographer , astronomer , and astrologer . He lived in Roman Egypt , and was probably born there at the town in the Thebaid called Ptolemais of Hermias; he died in Alexandria . Ptolemy was the author of several scientific treatises, three of which would be of continuing importance to later Islamic and European science.

  3. Joanna Lloyd Tilghman says:

Ptolemy ruled Egypt at the same time that Brutus and Caesar were living.
