NIDG Meeting

Hi,
Ron Scamp from Cornwall was the guest speaker for the ‘Lecture of The Year’ at todays meeting of the Northern Ireland daffodil group.  Ron grows 17 acres of daffodils in Cornwall.  He showed us how the bulbs are planted in drills and how they are cultivated.  He grows bulbs suitable for cut flowers and also exhibition varieties.  His interests in daffodils are wide ranging as he has a collection of Historic Daffodils and also showed us the latest flowers from his breeding programme; not to mention photos of miniature daffodils he is trialing.  This was a great programme with something for everyone interested in daffodils.
The photo shows our chairman, Deirdre Cairns presenting Ron with a gift from the group.
                                                                    Regards
                                                                        Derrick
