Intermediates

Friends,
Someone has asked me about showing ‘Heartland’ as an intermediate.  For some reason (I didn’t check), I assumed it was an intermediate, but I’ve just checked the RHS Register and see that at registration it was listed with a diameter of 90mm.  So, apologies to Elise Havens for showing an undergrown bloom of her lovely ‘Heartland’ in the Intermediate Section.

  1. Hi Elise,
I didn’t measure it; I just made a poor assumption.  Entirely my fault.  No need to change the classification.

  2. Mary Lou and all,

We are always open to change if ‘Heartland’ grows under 80 mm in other locations. It certainly is smaller than many standards.

  3. I know someone will correct me if I am mistaken, but I am certain my panel judged a three stem entry of Heartland yesterday in Greenwich.  We put it up for the White Ribbon and it won against several other very beautiful contenders.
And, the top flower also won the Gold Ribbon against seven other perfect flowers.
The Heartland I saw was very big and oh so beautiful. NO WAY this flower is an intermediate. It is however, a real winner.

I’m sorry I didn’t get a photo of it.  We were in a rush to get on the road home to Virginia after the show and so we didn’t stay on after judging except for lunch and to sing Happy Birthday to Sally Nash.

  4. Hey Chriss,

I have a photo of the best intermediate and the best standard daffodil from the Greenwich show.  I will post them if interested.

  5. It is a very beautiful flower, and I’ve no doubt it could win top awards. It was entirely my mistake that I entered it in my collection of 5 intermediates.
