Earthquake

Hi Folks,
A further update on our situation. Firstly isn’t it wonderful that we belong to a caring group of people who are in touch within minutes of a disaster happening. It is both humbling and strengthening.
We slept well last night but were on tenterhooks all morning. A nor west sky always gives an eerie light and we were having aftershocks every few minutes. The problem here was that the rumbling as the shock approached was the same as jets taking off at the airport. We heard a rumble, braced and if it went on a little longer we knew it was just an aircraft and could relax again.
The aftershocks have come as sharp jolts and have caused some cracking in the mortar on the brickwork. Every jolt feels like a bus hits the house.. It is now 7pm and it has been quiet for several hours. Another big bang could change our situation of relative comfort.
Overnight they are predicting that the nor wester could reach 130kph. That may move a loose chimneys etc around the city. Businesses and schools closed for at least two days.
Keep smiling at your end.
Dave
