Cut flower question & first bloom

Dear folks:
I’m sorry I couldn’t make it to Jackson, it sounds like you all had a wonderful time.
As many of you know, most of my flowers have been going to supply some local vendors. By mutual agreement, I’ve always supplied them in water.  This year I also have the potential of supplying a flower wholesaler, who indicates they prefer “dry pack.”  Does anyone have any experience with this?  I trust that -picked in bud- they will survive well enough, but I’m not sure what to do about the inevitable oozing.  Any thoughts on how this is handled in the industry?
On another note, had my first bloom of the year today at the farm (a few blooms down in the Village beat it).  Not a great picture, but here it is:
This particular one came from Nancy Wilson a few years ago but some of my stock from Joe Hamm will join it today.  Runner up in a couple hours will be Crewenna, originally from Ron Scamp and showing its Rijnveld’s Early Sensation heritage.
Thanks for your help.
