These are not mine (drats!), they’re John Reed’s at Oakwood Daffodils. Clearly, John has made immense advancements in the 1W-O and 1W-R arena. These images are not altered or adjusted. They’re the real deal. Both pictures were taken last spring.
The 1W-O is ‘Tangerine Delight’, which is fertile both ways and remains vibrantly orange throughout the life of the flower, regardless of weather. It inherits its steroidal stamina from its grandparent ‘Johann Strauss’, a very Dutch flower for the garden.
The 2W-R which I’ve tagged as ‘Reed Magician Bordeline’ is a selected seedling involving ‘Magician’ (sorry, I don’t have the pedigree info at work); though the image doesn’t indicate it clearly, this is nearly a trumpet. The flowers are huge and the corona is, from a forward stance, positively RED. It has substance to spare. As the flower matures, the petals tone pink. What potential!
Imagine if you will, a reciprocal cross of the two. I am, and it’s very, very colorful!
Happy spring!
