I don’t think very many of us stop to think how much work and time is involved for Tom and Kirby to go and photograph one daffodil show after another!!!
These are NOT snap shots where they just walk by and snap a photo. ALL of these are picked up from the show benches with the utmost care and THEN they have to “re-stage” the collections AND they normally line up all of these blooms BETTER than when the judges actually judged the classes!!!!
While the “rest” of us are off enjoying a tour or sleeping or enjoying a visit with our seldom seen friends they are tirelessly walking back and forth miles just picking up blooms and returning them and restaging them.
On top of all of this if they happen to miss spell a name or color code or get the wrong name with the wrong photo we are ALL going to squawk and cackle at them:-)))
It makes my back hurt just watching them stage a single collection just to get that “perfect” and I DO mean PERFECT photo of these blooms!!!
We SO lucky to have them doing this most tedious job! Keith Kridler Mt. Pleasant, Texas
AMEN KEITH!!
Indeed, Keith! Well said! Great work by both these talented photographers, and we’re lucky to have them!
Mary Lou
I couldn’t agree more. The photos are absolutely stunning! Thank you very much.

Not only that, but their photos also then populate the amazing Daffseek, helping make us the envy of the world’s plant databases (and again thanks to Ben and Nancy for that!). Mary Lou Gripshover is also a big photo contributor to that!
If you want to see the Convention photos all in one place; go to Facebook they are posted there. There is a link from http://www.daffodilusa.org to Facebook just click on the blue and white F.
