Portland show – Best Set of 3 Historic Daffodils: Who is White Lady?

Ironic.  Yours might be correct. White Lady has a date oe1897.  The other White Lady seems a little formal for that period.

I am going to send our conversation to daffnett.  DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE AN OPINION?

  1. Dear Jim, Kirby & any interested in this thread,

I did not buy these bulbs, they were present on the property before we bought it. The flowers have been identified and accepted as White Lady by our local group but that certainly does not mean they are without a doubt White Lady. Since we do know that such an old bulb’s flowers will have twisted narrow petals and thin substance, which Oregon White Lady has, and the color code is correct, and folks in other states have shown similar flowers as White Lady, we have accepted Oregon White Lady to be White Lady. We never call it Oregon White Lady; just doing that here for clarity.
All that said I, and other Oregon members, would not argue with any Historic expert!
Oh, and I did groom those flowers that you see in Kirby’s photo, after picking the best (the flattest and widest in my eye) from my patch. Perhaps next time I’ll choose the twistiest and narrowest…!!
Thanks for your input, Jim! I’m always interested to identify the daffodils that were here before us.
And you can please tell me what Croft 16 is? I’m familiar w/ OHG but not this.
    regards,
    Nancy Ellis in Oregon
