  1. I was interested to see Ian’s photo of ‘Ombersley’ which shows rounded petals. Attached photo is of my ‘Ombersley’ just imported in from Bramcote last year. The petals are much pointier, at least to my eye. I’ve just brought a bloom back from our show where it was in a winning Div. 1 collection. I’ll take a photo of it to see if it has “grown” over the last few days.

DaffSeek seems to support the more oval view.  And at least of yet your corona does not seem rolled.  Maybe that will come with aging.

  3. Hi Marylou,
I’ve grown Ombersley for many years – it is variable! In some years the cup does not get a roll and in others the petals vary from flower to flower. Whatever form it is a marvelous variety – one of Clive Postles many great contributions to exhibition daffodils.

  4. Hi Mary Lou
My first lot batch of Ombersley this year came with a pointed on the inner peraith petals, but the rest are coming with a much broader ones. How long was it from perianth fully back to cutting for show with me it takes between 10 & 15 days depending on the temperature. When I finish showing I will post most of the show winners on Daffnet and you will see that my 12 at the RHS the inner perianths are pointed.
    Roger
