Earthquake hysterics

You would think from the “wall to wall” media coverage in the Washington DC metro area of a 5.8 earthquake yesterday in Mineral, Virginia that the world came to an end. I guess it is slow here in DC with congress on vacation.

I can’t compare this to what happened in Haiti, New Zealand, and to other places. Hardly a hair was disturbed here and you would think the world just blew up.

I was in a Government building when it happened and people were panicking and running into the streets.

D.C. is always in hysterics, no?
Granted it was nothing terrible for most, but we of course aren’t used to
it (my building here in Ohio shook for 45 seconds and people were fleeing
skyscrapers in Columbus). I’m just looking at it as some excitement during
    an uneventful late Summer’s week.
Maybe that and the heavy rains we had last night will stir the daffodils
    into getting some roots going!

  2. Here in Missouri ours usually happen in the dead of the night, and nobody generally even notices it unless they work the night shift or are insomniacs.

  3. Irene is taking aim at the southeast USA. Now there is an event that can do more damage than a 5.8 jelly cake earthquake.
