It’s a wonderful Book – beautiful pictures with details of so many species – from one who see them in the wild over such wide regions where crocus grow. Worth a place on the shelf. I feel privileged to have a signed dedicated copy from the great man himself.
Janis is an amazing genius – gardener, hybridist, journalist, politician, freedom fighter, diplomat, botanist, plant hunter, bulb nurseryman, author, linguist, orator – and a wonderful companion. No wonder he was honoured in his own country – and he deserves wider international recognition.
And if you attended the 2002 ADS convention in Cincinnati, you may have met Janis Ruksans personally, as he was a featured speaker at one of the dinners.
