Weed Killers

Hi all,
I have used glyphosate when daffodil foliage has been 6-8″ high with no apparent damage. Others have confirmed similar experience. Old Alf Chappell used to say Roundup is okay when the sap is going up but not when it is going down. As others report bad experiences with glysophate do not take my experience as a safe practice.
I have a better recommendation. Talk to your local onion grower. What he uses for weed control should be okay on the daffs. Here we use Tribunal for broadleaf weeds. It gives kill and pre emergent control. There are other sprays which are designed to specifically kill grass weeds without effecting the daffs.
As to daffs in the roses. Fine if you don’t give the roses nitrogen fertiliser or ammend the soil for better rose growth.
Dave,
where we were so dry and now we have had 24 hours of snow. Thank goodness for a log burner and plenty of dry wood.

  1.  I am trying to knock back some agressive weeds-
I had heard that a surfactant improves the results with
roundup- Dawn liquid does seem to increase the kill rate-
but I do miss a few stems and the weeds are winning
