Last year a fully fertile bulbocodium/main division hybrid flowered.
Unfortunately it is not doing as well as its spectacularly vigorous and
floriferous siblings.
This year a fully fertile triandrus/main division hybrid has flowered.
Strangely single headed and not much like triandrus except for the
foliage, it was bred from Mission Bells x 04/01RM.
04/01RM itself is mysterious hybrid that is very fertile but I have not
managed to seed it. It seems likely that it has an orange cup somewhere
in its ancestry. Hybrids with main division flowers appear to be slow
but on jonquilla it has produced fine but sterile div 5 (09/21JR) and 7
hybrids. On triandrus it has produced a half fertile plant (11/01R) that
I plan to treat as a tetraploid triandrus.
