flowers to U K

Hi David, Clay, Mary Lou and Daffnetters,

Just come in from sorting flowers for our last show of the season, Wanganui tomorrow, Saturday, a one dayer.

I’ve been following the overseas flower exchange with interest as I can recall the David Bell flower photo in the old R H S yearbook. In the back of my mind, a bell was ringing about flowers sent to U. K. for another special Royal occasion.

The national flower of Wales, yes our favourite daffodils, were requested for a very Royal event, the Inauguration of the New Prince of Wales, Prince Charles.

I did a quick Google to find the date, and possibly any mention, but no luck. The date was 1st July 1969 — at that time daffs would be available in North Island New Zealand and my memory ( not so good these days ), was that one of the markets, T & G I think, arrange a small consignment.
Does that ring a bell with any others ? ?

Early start tomorrow, off to bed,

Cheers

John
