A bed of Manuel Lima’s seedlings

DaffNetters,

This gives you an idea of what many first-generation seedlings from
viridiflorus look like. These are siblings, probably from Hillstar x
viridiflorus. Winter bloomers, they have been open for several weeks.

  1. What size is the bed/box you are growing these in?

  2. Chriss,

These are growing in the ground. The seedling bed is 4′ wide x 10′
long – and not raised. The typical bloom is 1.5″ in diameter and
about 9″ tall, with three florets per stem. Notice – no leaves.

They had clumped last year, so I lifted and separated the little
bulbs in June and replanted them in October. They apear less vigorous
after having spent the summer in storage and being replanted.
