Hi everybody
Kevin Johnston’s sister Lois rang me this morning to ask me to pass on to other daffodil growers the message that he had passed away this morning. Kevin had an operation for a brain tumour and treatment last year. Sadly, when I visited him last month it was found that there was another tumour. It was apparent he would not return home to live and was relocated from the hospital to an adjacent retirement village. The family had been hopeful that Kevin would be able to go home for his mother’s 90th birthday on Friday to join family and friends for the occasion but unfortunately he was too ill to go. Kevin was a very successful exhibitor who took his lovely blooms to both North and South Island National Shows. Our thoughts and prayers are with his mother, Elvera, sister Lois, who has spent many months caring for Kevin, away from her home and family in Arrowtown about 1000 kilometres away, as well as other family members. Details of the funeral have not yet been decided.
