Miniature jonquil seedlings

Hi Naomi,

These jonquil bulblets obtained from the ADS silent auction had never bloomed before – you are their originator! So, you should give them their numbers if you show them.

They are (op)op from an original cross of henriquesii x triandrus triandrus. (Among those from the cross that bloomed, most showed that the cross didn’t take. I selected and registered ‘Ho Ho Kam’ 7Y-Y – its scalloped cup indicates to me that the cross did take.) The henriquesii I obtained way back when and used might actually have been fernandesii. These progeny self seed copiously each year and I plant the seeds that I do capture before they disperse. So what you have are at least two generations away from the original cross. Now blooming in my population there is variability both in height of the plants and the number of florets they have. I propagate selections from the population (eg, ‘Calaveras Gold’ 7Y-Y) and replant the rest en masse.

For those who are interested, I have many more unbloomed bulblets from this population awaiting good homes!

Thanks

  1. Daffodil Friends,

Might I clarify – I’m not trying to sell my miniature jonquil bulblets. I’ll send to individuals in the USA who want them – a dozen bulblets for the cost of a little box and postage.
