  1. Nancy, i believe these photos were taken the first weekend in March when Thera Lou Adams of Camden, Arkansas had her open fields days near Dodson, Louisiana. The thousands of daffodils have been planted over the years as a memorial to her husband. The young woman with sketch pad is Thera Lou’s granddaughter and is an artist. Other granddaughters, adopted from China, were there selling bulbs, the proceeds to be donated for medical needs of children of the orphanage.
Although the bloom this year was diminished by heavy rain and the early daffodils having finished (we were at least two weeks ahead this year), this is one of the loveliest sights in Louisiana. You are driving along on a remote rural road, go around a curve and crest a hill to be met with a breathtaking scene of thousands of daffodils in bloom. I go every year to Thera Lou’s open fields to drink in the beauty and visit with my dear friend. Many hundreds of people came this year to enjoy the rewards of her dedication and commitment to provide this “thing of beauty” which will indeed be “a joy forever.”. Celia Jones. North Louisiana
