V06-23 Grex – Wide range of Form and Color

The photos show the tremendous variance of range of color and general form obtained from the V06-23 grex. Grex is Latin for flock or group. This is from a cross of two of my Miniature seedlings: V99-40-13 x V97-201-7. V99-40-13 = (Sprite x Rupert). V97-201-7 = [Small Talk x (V91-238-4 = (Mitzy x Candlepower)].

I believe that those that grow the parents, grandparents and great grandparents will find the form of some of these seedlings quite familiar and reminiscent of their ancestors. There are four generations away from wild species on the seed parent side and six generations away on the pollen parent side.

Remember that all the photos show different seedlings from the same, exact cross which is V06-23.

#1 Photo – To me it shows much in common with “Rupert” with a touch of N. cyclamineus through ‘Mitzy’

#2 Photo – Although a bicolor now it ends white. The corona proportions and overall flower shape is very close to ‘Small Talk’. It has the same annoying habit as ‘Small Talk’ in having a longer 6:00 tepal.

#3 Photo – Has the substance of ‘Rupert’ with the reflex of ‘Mitzy’ and the corona is reduced in length but has the shape from ‘Candlepower’. Also shows some reverse characteristics.

#4 Photo – Has the whiteness in the perianth of ‘Sprite’ with ‘Sprite’s’ size and general confirmation. Displaying improved width and some reflex via ‘Mitzy’.

#5 Photo –  Reminds me of a yellow ‘Mitzy’ with a similar overall form although not as reflexed and not quite as wide in the segments. Also shows some reversing or white on the perianth.

Truly fine examples of fantastic range of expression from an “advanced” Miniature cross!
