Micro-cycla – Tiny 6Y-Y

If Harold can have a “Microcodium”, I thought I could have a “Micro-cycla” :-). This is a really tiny 6Y-Y. The cross number is V06-5-20 = [(Snook x Xana) x (N. cyclamineus x Smidgen)] and when spread out and measured from perianth tip to tip it measures 20mm or 25/32″ (.78740 of an inch). From the end of the corona mouth to the backswept perianth tip it measures 18mm or 45/64″ (.70866 of an inch). It has very nice form for such a tiny thing. It grows about 4″ tall.

The first year I thought that maybe the tiny size was an underfed maiden bloom. Last year it had two identically sized tiny flowers. This year it has three flowers of similar tiny size so it seems to be stable and the real deal. It is cute as the dickens to my eye. I’ll refrigerate the flower and hope that it lasts until the Portland Show a week from this Saturday.
