An Early Div 3

I have been attempting to get show flowers from div 3 earlier in the season.  I have had precious little to work with and the seedling have been mostly failures.   I have use Barrett browning several times over the years   Brent Heath commented that he never got anything good out of Barrett Browning and I would agree until yesterday.  This is  a well formed flower season 2 flower

  1. I like your Early div 3.  I was wondering if you had pictures of the parents of each of the W-Y you showed in the series of seedlings.  I have not heard or seen most of the parents you used.

It would be very educational if I could see photos of the pollen parent and the seed parent next to the kids.  Being new to breeding I’m trying to learn what traits from what parents are dominant.

The place most of us go for photos of unknown varieties is Daffseek.  http://www.daffseek.org

I highly recommend it.  In this case, there are photos of Dresden (actually two different cultivars with that name) and Barrett Browning both in Daffseek.  You might enjoy giving it a try.

  3. Hi Michael,

Do you have Cartel? It is not too far from div.3 and is very early here. Maybe it is worth crossing with this really nice seedling.

  4. I have several of Jackson’s things but not Cartel. I will look for it post haste thanks for the tip.
