Barco, NC Daffodil Show

Hi all,

As you know we had a daffodil show yesterday on March 22, 2014 at the NC State Extension Center Auditorium, Currituck, NC. We had a team of the best judges in ADS. :-)

I’ve found out that I am called “piggy” because I collect a lot of Silver Ribbons. Please note that when I collect silver ribbons its not because I bombed the show with single stem entries. I hardly include single stems in my showing except to put the daffodils left over from my showing. I am a collection showing, but three stem entries.

So when I say that I won 30 Blue Ribbons yesterday, please remember that I did not enter one single stem entry in the show. All collections and three stems. That’s how Marie Bozievich taught me and that’s how I still do it. Even when I didn’t win the Bozievich yesterday – my error.

I do want all to know that I won both the standard and the mini Red White and Blue Ribbons with my seedlings; All were my seedling. Nice color in some of the standards.

Show report follows: (I’m sorry I don’t have pictures as I had a photographer take the pictures for me and they have not given me the pictures yet)
# Entries 351. # Exhibitors 30. # of blooms in the show 768. There were 14 photograph exhibits and five exhibitors of Photographs.

  1. Hi Daffnet:

I still don’t have the pictures but some of them have been posted on face book.  Look under Northeast North Carolina Daffodil Society.  If you have a hard time identifying them, ask Fran Higgins.  I don’t do face book. The face book they are posted on is the new one from 2014.  There is an older inactive face book for Northeast North Carolina Daffodil Society from a couple years or so ago.

    Clay
