  1. There are no charles kuralt. I knew the hybirdizer. He died in 2003. I
remember he said he dug it and the spade accidently chopped all the bulbs.
A sad story but true. He wanted the bulbs to be planted on charles K
    grave.

  2. Ceci, Thank you for that information.  I’ve been wanting  that bulb for years and only recently began an earnest search…which led me to the ADS.  I’m very sad to know the Charles Kuralt daffodil no longer exists.  I was hoping it might be thriving on his grave.

  3. In Charles Kuralt’s last book Charles Kuralt’s America he wrote all of chapter “April” on his gift from Granville Hall (from Gloucester, VA) 2 daffodil bulbs that were tagged ‘Charles Kuralt’.  The third bulb was nicked by the shovel and Granville kept that one; the other 2 were OK and Charles planted them on his property in Connecticut “on a slope above a mill pond.”  If you can find his property (probably sold by now) and the slope above the mill pond you may have a shot at seeing the Charles Kuralts blooming.  There must be several by now, if no one has plowed them under.  Those were the only 2.  Granville made Kuralt a very happy man by naming the daffodil after him for his retirement not his grave.  I know this because I heard Kuralt on his recording of his book and then I bought the book and read it, too.  Dr. Bill Bender was mentioned in the book but a “Pennsylvania horticulturist” was used in the recording.  I’m writing a book about Dr. Bender and this story will be in it.  Look for it soon.

Ceci, you sat next to me in Franklin TN in 2018 daff auction.

Linda, sorry there is not better news.
