Question about reflexing in Division 2

The question I have.  This cultivar is definitely Division 2 on opening, but as the flower ages–and this one  probably has been 9-11 days open-some reflexing of the perianth is occurring.  Is this something that is seen in other daffodils?

  1. Lewis, Some daffodils will reflex, maybe not all the time, but on occasion.
Conestoga is the one that comes to my mind quiet often that reflects.

  2. To expound upon what Clay said, click the “pedigree” in Daffseek for any named flower, and look back, way back, in its parentage for Poeticus recurvus or N. cyclamineus. There are other flowers with swept back petals, but they usually go back to a species with swept back petals. There are a bunch of people on Daffnet who could probably list a bunch off the tops of their heads.

  3. All blooms grow as they age.  Some unfortunately twist or or splay or more unfortunately do both.  Sentinel is another that has significant reflex.  If I want to get my Conestoga into show form, I support the back with something that keeps the petals in position to have them more toward 90 degrees.  A little bit of reflex does not seem to make the Judges unhappy, If I exceed 15 degrees, points come off somehow.
