Has anybody used Coconut coir as a soil amendment for daffodils?

I’m looking for information from anybody who has used coconut coir as a soil amendment for daffodil beds. Or information from anybody who has thought about using it, and decided against it.

I thought it might be a good way to aerate my tight, compacted silty soil, but I wanted to check with you experts first. The compost I’ve been adding seems to hold too much water too long in the season, but coir seems sort of dry to the touch, even when fully hydrated.

Thanks for any insight,

Suzy
