Occasionally I will read on Daffseek information like this about a cultivar: Received the Royal Horticultural Society(RHS) Award of Garden Merit(AGM) in 2005 [or whatever date] and the award was rescinded by the RHS in 2012.
What are some of the reasons for the rescindings?
As I understand it from other genera, the three main reasons for an AGM to be rescinded are:
1. If the cultivar is no longer commercially available:
2. If stock in commerce is mixed so you can’t be sure to get the right cultivar when you buy it; or
3. If it has been superceded by a newer cultivar which is better.
Thanks, Roger. That makes sense, especially No. 1.
