Bubs dug

I’ve now dug all the bulbs that I will be digging this year.  After a couple of weeks drying I will be the cleaning and sorting.  The sorting will be difficult this year as I am bound and determined to reduce my holding by about a third.  I have promised two members of ADS to send them some of my seedling to grow out for me.

The named bulbs will mostly be going to the the 4 or 5 daffodil societies that I normally support with bulbs.  They know who they are and I’ve added CT to the list.  I tried selling bulbs at one time but that doesn’t work for me. Too much pressure, inventories and deadlines.

Have to do a lot of sorting of the named bulbs as well to determine the ones that I win with verses the ones that I grow for sentiment and for no other reason than I just have them. The winners I will keep.  I also keep a lot of naturalized daffodils along the street in front of my house with things like RES, Ice Follies, Tete-a-Tete etc., mixed with peonys and other flowers

  1. Love it! Trying to do the same over here in NZ on my small plot so I wish
you many happy memories as you ponder each variety in the packing area.

  2. Hello Clay

I see that you aren’t selling this year

If you have extras please send them my way

Anything but Div 10- I haven’t kept any alive more than five years and most only grow one year for me;(

I am planting two to four bulbs in each spot so if I plant back more than 12 they go to the picking rows
Let me know if you have extras and how much to pay you

  3. John,

I’ve quit trying to sell bulbs. I like giving them away better – for
    postage that is.

I keep div 10 alive very well in cold New Jersey. You have to protect them
some from the Cold north wind. In my case the Northwest wind. I had to
learn the hard way by losing some before I figured it out. I plant them on
the southeast side of my barn and my house. they do very well there.

My the way my Div 10 has grown and multiplied so much that I have to
eliminate many of them. Too bad that you are not interested. My garden
club is not interested as well. Oh well, there is always the trash can.
