Culpepper Daffodil Gardens on Arlington PBS

Good morning

The documentary produced by Arlington, VA PBS has been sent to me in a link. It is well worth your time to watch. It is only a bit over 7 and a half minutes long. It is choke full of everything we all hold dear. The Producer is Bryant Dameron. His email is title=

Below the link is the initial email from Bryant talking about the Culpepper Senior Living complex and just a bit about Dr Culpepper. Dr Culpepper was an early member of ADS though probably only a few will remember his work in the society that was mostly in the 1960s

Of interest to the Culpepper complex was a call out for Dr Culpepper Daffodil introductions. I hope we can help them out.

I thought you may be interested in our piece about the daffodils at Culpepper Garden that aired earlier this week.
I gave Image Courtesy credit to the American Daffodil Society on screen in the piece as well as in the end credits.
Thanks for the help and information you provided.
Best,
Bryant

Hello,

I am with VPM-PBS, Central Virginia’s public television affiliate station. Our program, “Virginia Home Grown,” is doing a feature story on the daffodils at the Culpepper Garden Senior Living Community in Arlington, VA, the former home of Dr. Charles Culpepper. Dr. Culpepper’s profile was included in the March 1966 edition of The Daffodil Journal. I am writing to inquire about the use of an image of Dr. Culpepper on page 117.

When he retired, Dr. Culpepper, sold his property at a large discount to the Unitarian Church in that area on the condition that the property would be used for affordable senior housing. They are now one of the few options for low income senior living in the area, and are very unique in for having so much acreage and green space in an urban setting. Over the last several years they have began staging mass daffodil plantings on the property to honor the legacy of Dr. Culpepper. They now have over 30,000 plants.

Being able to include a photograph of Dr. Culpepper will be a nice addition as we share this story with our audience of gardeners across Virginia.

Thank you,
Bryant Dameron
