Outlook for Midwest Daffodil Society Show is Grim

Our weather has been bizarre and certainly not conducive to smooth blooms. On Thursday we had torrential rains, followed by hail, followed by a tornado alert within the same hour. Some members report no blooms left untouched. It was 45 degrees all day here.I picked all the blooms in bud that I could find today and will hope for some better luck before Saturday, the 29th.

  1. Cheer up George.  You will be surprised how many daffodils will be available for your show. Slim Pickens, pun intended, is what we have had here for the last two shows that I attended. But the show goes own.  Chambersburg had over 600 stems and before the show they were hoping to get to 3 hundred.

    Good Luck,

  2. I agree with George. This is the worst daff season for me since I joined the Midwest Daffodil Society in the previous century.

  3. I’m sad that I don’t have enough time to get there this year! I have probably 50 in flower here, mostly late planted Div 5. And of course the michigan planting- let me kno next season if I should try?
