The Otaki Horticultural Society held our Spring show on Friday 1 September .We had a warmer winter but a cooler August ( coolest in 6 years , todays weather summary ) and , as we are always first Friday in September , as early a date as possible this year .
Flowers were not quite as plentiful as usual and a few of our regulars had no blooms to show .Only 6 exhibitors but we managed 21 vases 3 and 72 singles for a total 135 stems , – reflecting the season .
Flower size and condition was good , – we had a calm , cool week leadup , – no gales , only a few light frosts .
