Wednesday 13 September was Show day for the Rongotea and District Horticultural and Produce Society , now well into their second century of flower shows .
A good number of exhibitors , particularly strong in the amateur and novice sections , staged an impressive 485 stems , – 65 vases 3 , -227 singles and 9 vases 7 for judge Wayne Hughes to sort, –
With assistance from John Hollever in the amateur and lower grades . The public voted for the 7 in a vase winner , – not known when i left .
A good week weather wise before the show but spring was progressing : we were probably past peak with quality yellow trumpets and redcups in short supply .
John Hollever from Levin dominated with a mass of large blooms in good condition – pushed by Brian MacKenzie in the open section and Dave Luty in the amateur .Mother and daughter Diana and Nina battled in the novice
with also good blooms from several locals . Also pleasing to see Dennis Rodgers again helping the youngsters from Marton School with their flowers .

Loved the pictures. The Honeybourne is the best I’ve seen. Liked Relentless as well. Waybe has beautiful color. I’ve tried to use it as a parent. I’ll have to check it out.
I love to see the show reports. Keep them coming.

Some beautiful daffodils, thanks for posting. Really liked Honeybourne, Relentless, Cosmos, Impeccable, and Wayby but all were very nice.
