Melanie Underwood, of the RHS, forwarded the message below from Teresa Clements, Chairman of the RHS Bulb Committee, about the death of James Akers. Many of you will have met James at one of the World Conventions. Our sympathy to his family.

Dear Bulb Committee Members, friends and colleagues,
I am sorry to say that James Akers, our friend of many years, died this morning.
James’ family have been at his side since he suffered a stroke less than two weeks ago and they have done a splendid job of keeping friends informed about his condition. Our thoughts are with them and we send them our sincere condolences.
We all will have our memories of James and the knowledge, energy and companionship he brought to the many groups to which he gave his support. He will be greatly missed.
