The last weekend in August saw daffodil shows in several North Island areas ; Titahi Bay , New Plymouth and the Waikato .The New Plymouth Horticultural Society had a very colourful show ,; a big cutflower section , good floral art and a good daffodil section .A big thanks to Wilfred Hall , who exhibited at Titahi Bay , staging his flowers Friday evening and then a very early start Saturday morning for the 5 hour drive to N P to do the daffodil judging .He also took these photos and supplied the comments . Spud and Joy Brogden are a great team and Brogden Bulbs provided most of the winners .
Champion Bloom was a large and very smooth Div 2 , all yellow , B B – 06 – 13 , very flat and smooth .
Premier Division 1 was a nice yellow trumpet , also from B B , sdlg B B 07 – 3 – 1
The seedling class saw Wilf pick a nice split corona – a little different B B 07 – 19 – A
Other flowers that caught Wilfreds eye were the seldom seen Div 8 Kahurangi ,raised by the late John Byrne from Sdlg – x – Matador , a colourful flower .
Best exhibit in the miniature classes was this attractive vase of Hawera , from Joan and Alan Paton .
