Friends,
It’s warmed up enough that I went to take the tops off the coldframes, and was greeted with these blooming crocus. At some point, a stray seed, or bulb, managed to nestle right up against the house, within the coldframe. Last year, I said I was thinking of moving it, but someone said to let it to enjoy early. I’d like to say that I left it intentionally, but I plain forgot to move it. But it is nice to come upon it suddenly when there’s still snow on the ground in patches. :-)
A pot of N. fernandesii var. cordubensis is loaded with buds. This survives in the open, but the foliage is always frozen back, so I keep it in the coldframe.
